Poem 8 - 30/30 - 4/2009

Going Down The Mother Road

The long journey away from home, was a quest to find power
Searching dusty towns, trading posts, dives and out of the way cafe's
She was looking to meet her teacher, while trying not to be devoured
In a green Volkswagen bug, she set out down the mother road

Searching dusty towns, trading posts, dives and out of the way cafe's
She almost got possessed while driving down Route 66
In a green Volkswagen bug, she'd set out down the mother road
When she met a Cloud Shifter who knew all the secrets of the singing toads

She almost got possessed while driving down Route 66
After she missed hitting a sidewinder that was slowing crossing the camino
When she met a Cloud Shifter who knew all the secrets of the singing toads
But he told her very little and in the shimmering desert heat waves he vanished

After she missed hitting a sidewinder that was slowly crossing the camino
Near Cubero she stopped to talk to the sorcerer who said the snake was a sign
But he told her very little and in the shimmering desert heat waves he vanished
That night on the road, way past dark, she saw a falling star and made a wish

Near Cubero she stopped to talk to the sorcerer who said the snake was a sign
She'd made up her mind to ask him to teach her the ways of the shifting clouds
That night on the road, way past dark, she saw a falling star and made a wish
Then pulled off at a rest stop, fell asleep, and dreamed of fat clouds and flying

She'd made up her mind to ask him to teach her the ways of the shifting clouds
She had flown the safety of her home to learn to be on her own and grown
Then pulled off at a rest stop, fell asleep, and dreamed of fat clouds and flying
The long journey away from home, was a quest to find power
