Poem #11 - 30/30

Our Body's Geography

Our body's are a map of our lives
Every line, every scar, every tattoo
All the imperfections that have made us cry
Every burn, the stretch marks, every lost tooth

Every line, every scar, every tattoo
Remind us of some happening
Every burn, the stretch marks, every loss tooth
Tell us where we've been and where we're going

Remind us of some happening
When we got drunk and tattooed our rears
Tell us where we've been, and where we're going
Getting older and not seeing ourselves in the mirror

When we got drunk and tattooed our rears
All those milky stretch marks on my pregnant belly
Getting older and not seeing ourselves in the mirror
The first time I ever dyed my grays, and felt real silly

All those milky stretch marks on my pregnant belly
My hip that aches from holding my son in his favorite position
The first time I ever dyed my grays, and felt real silly
Our body's are a map of our lives
